Guess who is having a special anniversary? The Vermont City Marathon!

Registration for the largest running event in Northern New England opens on Thursday, November 1, at 6 a.m. EST. The Burlington, Vermont-based KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay frequently sells out, with 3600 marathoners and 4500 relay runners participating. The 2013 event marks the 25th anniversary of the marathon.

The attendance of several running legends will make this year’s anniversary event special, said RunVermont Executive Director Peter Delaney

“We’re looking forward to making this year one to remember,” he said. “We’ll be joined  by Runner’s World Chief Running Officer Bart Yasso and 1972 Olympian Jeff Galloway.” Additional surprises are planned and will be announced throughout the registration and training period.

The 2013 event is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2013. Registration and full details are offered online at runvcm.org. Marathoners who register early enjoy a discounted fee of $85 and a bonus subscription toRunners World. Registration for the relay lottery opens January 1, 2013.
