Two Stowe athletes pulled down top honors in the TDBank Marathon Series. Ryan Kerrigan and Robyn Anderson where named the series Overall Champions recently, as both athletes placed first in their respective divisions, men’s and women’s 50K freestyle/skate cross-country ski race, at the Sugarloaf Marathon held March 17 at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.

Kerrigan and Anderson are both founding members of the Stowe Vermont based VTXCCross Country Ski Team based at, and sponsored by, the Trapp Family Lodge Ski Center, Atomic skis, and Swix wax. Drew Gelinas, New England Technical Director for Swix and Atomic, said, “Both Ryan and Robin love the sport of cross-country skiing. For them it’s the sport firstand the racing second. It is exciting for me, as an industry professional, to work with sponsored athletes who have that love. There is a spark in every thing they do whether itbe teaching children the basics of cross-country skiing or competing in high level eventsraces or winning this year’s overall champions title.”

The TDBank Ski Marathon Series is put on by the New England Nordic Ski Association; the ruling body of nordic ski racing in New England. The series is composed of five ski marathons or loppets. To be named a champion athletes must compete in four of the five races. A men’s and women’s overall champion is named each year for best overallresults over the entire series.

VTXC is a not for profit organization dedicated to coaching Bill Koch League, junior, and master level ski racers and runners while providing support to those VTXC athleteswho are pursuing their own ski racing goals.
