Record Turnout and Donations at the GMAA Turkey Trot

The Green Mountain Athletic Association (GMAA) staged the 36th annual 5K Turkey Trot at UVM on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 22, 2012. This year saw the largest turnout with a total of 1,100 participants, who donated a record $5660.75 and 1500 pounds of food for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf.

Course conditions were dry and fast with both the men’s and women’s winners posting very quick times. Jeff Bush of Westborough, MA crossed the line as men’s champion in a time of 1 5:57. Joanne Murphy of Cambridge, MA claimed the women’s title with a new course record of 1 8:02!

The Kid’s Run 201 2 featured a new course of one blazing lap around the brand new track at UVM! Over 50 children packed the starting line and offered the enthusiastic crowd a glimpse of some rising stars for the future as they raced to the finish line to claim their finisher’s ribbons!
