Race to the Top of Vermont Signs The North Face as Sponsor

The Catamount Trail Association has recently signed on The North Face as the title sponsor for the Race To The Top Of Vermont on August 26, 2012. The 40 year-old company based in California, is well known for delivering an extensive line of performance apparel, equipment, and footwear.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with The North Face company and The North Face Store @ KL Sport, who share many of the same ideals concerning outdoor recreation,” noted the CTA’s Executive Director, Jim Fredericks.
As many as 900 runners, mountain bikers, and hikers will test their strength and endurance on the famous 4.3-mile Toll Road up Vermont’s highest peak, Mount Mansfield. The North Face Race To The Top Of Vermont is the second longest continual uphill climb in New England and will attract participants from over 24 states and Canada. For the first time, the event will include MVP Health Care Run For Fun event for ages 4 to 14. This fun event will offer the opportunity for youth to be exposed to the life long sport of running on this mini 1K hill climb where everyone is a winner.
Proceeds from The North Face Race To The Top Of VT will benefit the Catamount Trail Association, the non-profit organization that manages, maintains, and protects the 300-mile backcountry ski trail the length of Vermont. This year, the Vermont Land Trust will be utilizing this event as a fundraiser to save 1,161 acres of backcountry land in Bolton Valley from commercial development. Hundreds of participants will do the non-competitive hike with the goal of raising thousands of dollars to protect this land used by over 15,000 backcountry skiers and hikers.
