Your Picks For This Weekend, Nov. 3-6

From a potluck party for backcountry skiers to a mountain biking culture variety show, a ski swap and a Thanksgiving dinner in a brewery, we’ve got you covered this weekend. 

3 | 4th Annual Vermont Backcountry Forum, Rochester, Vt.

Celebrate the start of the season with backcountry skiers and riders. This Thursday, the Catamount Trail Organization, RASTA and the Vermont Backcountry Alliance will host a potluck dinner with raffles, music, dancing, multimedia presentations and discussions about happenings in the world of backcountry skiing and riding. Doors open at 6 pm.


5 | 2016 Green Mountain Showdown, Stowe, Vt.

Mountain Bike Vermont presents a bike culture variety show to be held at the Rusty Nail in Stowe. Watch locally produced MTB video shorts, slideshows and spoken work pieces dedicated to all facets of mountain biking. This years event features The Rider’s Choice awards, presenting prizes to based on votes for categories such as “best trail network,” “best trail builder” and “best photographer.” Doors open at 7,  and the show starts at 8.


5 | Cochran’s Ski Sale, Richmond, Vt.

Find the deals on alpine skis, snowboards, Nordic skis, and awesome ski attire at Camel’s Hump School in Richmond. Drop your used gear off on Friday, Nov. 4 between 6 and 8:30 pm, then shop for gear on Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm.


6 | Harpoon Friendsgiving, Windsor, Vt.

Head over to Harpoon Brewery for an atypical dinner in the brew house, featuring various Harpoon and UFO. Tickets cost $55 and include dinner, two beer tickets, a special pilot beer made for this event and a raffle ticket. Proceeds benefit the Vermont Foodbank.
