7 Must-Do Mud Season Events

It’s a big weekend for spring outdoor recreation across the state! From the Otter Creek Classic fly fishing tournament and the opening day of trout season to some of the first half marathons and races of the season, it’s a great time to get outside. Don’t miss the Muddy Onion next weekend, an epic gravel ride through Central Vermont’s dirt roads.

13 | 13th Annual RunVermont Half Marathon Unplugged, Colchester

Run 13.1 miles or join a relay team. Earn a Switchback beer at the brewery/finish line. Course begins at Airport Park in Colchester and runs along the bike path to the South End of Burlington.

13 | 11th Annual New Haven Ledges Race, Bristol

Advanced whitewater paddlers take on the 1.3-miles of boulder gardens, waterfalls and class IV and V rapids in this classic race and celebration of Vermont whitewater.

13 | Spring Fling 5K/10K, Shelburne

Run, walk or jog this community fun run and out-and-back race, followed by a pancake breakfast with local syrup. Starts at 9 a.m.

13-14 | Otter Creek Classic Fly Fishing Tournament, Middlebury

Middlebury Mountaineer hosts this annual catch and release fly fishing only event. All profits benefit Project Healing Waters for local conservation and education programs.

20 | The Muddy Onion Spring Classic Gravel Grinder, Montpelier

Support the Central Vermont Humane Society with this 3-mile fun run for dogs and their owners at Little River State Park.
