From fatbike festivals to pond skims, music festivals to triathlons that involve skiing, there’s a lot of good skiing left to be had this winter in Vermont. Check out these seven awesome events for spring.
Upper Pass Beer presents this new festival in Londonderry, featuring a BLT tap takeover, ten hours of music including 3 live bands, 7 MCs, 3 live paint artists and DJ JoeBell. There will also be a fatbike event running during the day and a big BBQ on the deck.
Check out a free hard goods on-snow demo at the base of Superstar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. followed by a barbecue lunch with hot dog, hamburgers, veggie burgers and barbecue. Live music in the afternoon by DJ Dave, Annie in the Water and Passafire. Midweek pass holders are invited to the barbecue too and can start skiing weekends April 20.
Bust out the sandals and sunblock and head over to the Pump House Indoor Waterpark to ring in the spring ski/ride season from 4-7 p.m. Anyone 16 and older is invited to participate in the annual pond skim. Registration runs from 10-11 a.m. at the Tramside Info Desk. Event starts at noon at the top of the pond, located on the Interstate trail. Awards are at 4 p.m. at the waterpark. Judging categories include best run, best costume, best bail and best splash.
This mountaintop triathlon features a new format: ski, bike, run. Expect one lap (on the mountain) of skiing/snowboarding, one lap of mountain biking and one lap of running.
Schlamm means “mud” in German and this awesome event is being sponsored by the resort’s Flake Foundation. Households from the following towns can register for four free lift tickets for the day: Albany, Bakersfield, Barton, Berkshire, Brownington, Derby, Derby Line, Enosburg, Fairfield, Franklin, Glover, Irasburg, Jay, Lowell, Montgomery, Montgomery Center, Newport Center, Newport City, North Troy, Orleans, Richford, Sheldon, St. Albans, Troy and Westfield.
Expect to provide a lease, mortgage document, utility bill or driver’s license showing an address from one of these towns when you pick up your tickets.
Pack the cooler and bring the lawn chairs our for this annual tailgate party and cook-off in the Stateside parking lot. Expect a contest for best dish, best presentation, best dessert and overall tailgate champion. Tailgating is all day, judging for the cook-off runs from 2-3 p.m. Catch the after-party from 4-7 p.m. at the Bullwheel Bar, where winners will be announced. Free live music by Lazer Dad.
