Upper Valley Trails Alliance offers Annual Lake Morey Skate-a-thon Fundraiser

FAIRLEE, VT. — The Upper Valley Trails Alliance (UVTA) has set its annual Lake Morey Skate-a-thon fundraiser for Jan. 18 at the Lake Morey Resort from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The day revolves around skating laps on the 4.5-mile Lake Morey Skating Trail, the longest groomed trail of its kind in the country. The entry fee, which ranges between $10 and $25 depending on age and UVTA membership status, comes with free Nordic skate rentals (on a first-come, first-served basis), hot chocolate, soup, lunch and a raffle ticket. Skaters get an additional raffle ticket for each lap they complete. All proceeds from the day will go toward the UVTA’s work to develop and maintain trails and programs around the region.
“This is a Trails Alliance signature event and truly is one of the most fun ways to spend a winter day,” Russell Hirschler, UVTA’s Executive Director, said. “It is also a wonderful opportunity for families to come and explore the lake. Over the past 13 years beginners to experts have enjoyed a fun filled day with like-minded winter enthusiasts.”
