Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center offers dog sledding adventures with Husky Works Mushing Company

GRAFTON — Two southern Vermont outdoor businesses, Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center and Husky Works Mushing Company (HWMC), have teamed up to offer Dog Sledding experiences throughout the winter at Grafton Ponds.

Grafton Ponds is a year-round recreation center located in Grafton Village, offering Nordic skiing, snow tubing and snowshoeing in winter. Located in nearby West Wardsboro, HWMC have been offering dog spirited adventures with their team of working Siberian Huskies since 2005.

At Grafton Ponds, dog sled tours take place at 4, 5 and 6 pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Riders will enjoy a ride in cozy hand-made two-seated sled, with a musher as a guide, and the opportunity to witness true working sled dogs in action, doing what they love to do: run. These late-afternoon /early  evening tours will be led with high-powered headlamps, or by moonlight and will travel along Grafton Ponds’ vast trail network.  The sleds are designed for two adults, or two children (age five and older) with one adult. The combined weight cannot exceed 330 lbs.

HWMC’s kennel is made up of all purebred Siberian dogs, each with a very unique personality. Guests have the opportunity to meet the dogs in addition to the ride. The full experience at Grafton Ponds lasts approximately one hour, and costs $175 per ride. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling Grafton Ponds at 802-843-2400. All rides are weather permitting.
