The Fellowship of the Wheel, Vermont’s largest mountain bike trail building group, and the Green Mountain Adventure Racing Association are teaming up to present the Wheel of Fire - MTB Adventure Race. The race will start at Sleepy Hollow in Huntington, VT on the afternoon of Sunday, October 12th.
This unique event has been designed to test riders' stamina and their ability to strategically navigate the Sleepy Hollow and Hinesburg Town Forest trails. Racers will have to pick their own route around the trail networks to reach as many check points as possible within the allotted time. Detailed course maps will be distributed to riders on the day of the event. Participants can choose their own challenge and the length of their ride!
The advanced course will traverse both mighty trail systems in 5 hours on up to 35 miles of trails. There will also be a shorter, intermediate course that stays within Sleepy Hollow’s 16 mile trail network for a 3 hour race. Trails in both options will range from wider xc ski trails to fun, twisty, and technical singletrack built by FOTW. Free post-race BBQ for all entrants.
Race entry fees are $31 by 10/1/08 and $36 by 10/11/08. Sorry, no race day registration.
Members of FOTW and GMARA receive a $10 discount on the entry fee.
