For 2008, the Causeway Bike Ferry runs 10am to 6pm each weekend day in August and Labor Day (September 1). A $5 minimum donation is requested to defray the cost of operation.
The ferry allows cyclists, runners, walkers to travel across Lake Champlain on an old railroad bed between Burlington, Colchester and South Hero. It unites the Burlington Bike Path, the Colchester Causeway and the South Hero F&W Allen Pt Access Area into a stunning 14-mile trail.
The service is provided by Local Motion and the South Hero Recreation Path Committee. Thank you to South Hero, Colchester and VT Fish & Wildlife.
