Ethan Allen Biathlon @ Ethan Allen Biathlon Range

A 6-race summer (running) biathlon race series will be held on Thursday evenings throughout July and August (July 12, 19, 26, August 9, 16, 23) in 2018. These races are open to beginners (must be 14-years-old to race with .22 rifle) as well as experienced biathletes. No experience is needed.

Race distance is usually 5 kilometers on mostly dirt with some pavement. Safety clinic, instruction and rifles are available for novices. Awards are given at the end of the series. Registration 5:00 to 5:30 PM, zero 5:30 to 6:00 PM, race start at 6:15 PM. Cost is $10 per race ($5 for EABC members) or $50 for the series ($25 for EABC members).

The annual Kingdom Run (half marathon, 10K & 5K) combines a competitive athletic event with the old-fashioned hospitality and charm of a small town in rural Vermont. Kingdom Run is an out & back race on scenic dirt roads in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. 5K & 10K walkers are welcome. A complimentary munchies buffet is topped off with blueberry sundaes after the race. Prizes for winners in six age categories. On-line registration at Active.com. Day of race registration beginning at 7:15 AM.
Split start: 8:30 & 9:00.

Smugglers’ Mountain Race and Vertical Challenge @ Smugglers' Notch Resort

Smugglers’ Mountain Race is a weekend of stout mountain runs at their finest. These are extremely challenging sky-run style mountain races located on the rugged slopes and trails of Smugglers’ Notch Resort, in Mount Mansfield State Forest!

Both races climb to the highest point of land; Madonna Mountain, on the North side of Smugglers’ Notch via steep, unforgiving terrain. Loose rock, mud, slippery slopes and long unrelenting climbs with spectacular views should be expected. The Madonna Mountian Vertical Challenge will be held on August 11 at noon and is a timed 5.5K Sky Run. The Smugglers Mountain Race is a 25K trail run, starting at 9 a.m. on August 11.

Fill up your water bottles, lace up your sneakers and join in the fun at this year’s 10th Annual Zoe’s Race in beautiful Oakledge Park in the south end of Burlington. In honor of our 10th Anniversary, we’ve added a special 10K race, along with our 1K and 5K races. Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC is our official 2018 sponsor of the kid’s 1K this year, so there are no fees for kids 17 and under to run or walk the 1K!

Zoe’s Race is a Howard Center fundraiser for people in need of assistance.

Every August the Northeast Delta Dental Race To The Top Of Vermont draws as many as 800 hikers, bikers, and runners from across the U.S. and Canada to climb Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak. The course climbs up the historic Mansfield Toll Road, is 4.3 miles in length, and climbs 2564 ft. For some it’s all about trying to achieve a fast time up this tough 4.3 mile course. For others… they come to test themselves, and to enjoy the spectacular views.

Charlotte Covered Bridge 5K/10K & Half Marathon

The 5K, 10K and Half Marathon all begin and end at beautiful Shelburne Beach. Along the course, you will pass Shelburne Orchards and run along a picturesque dirt/gravel road featuring wonderful views of Vermont countryside. Run past Charlotte Beach just before entering the Holmes Creek covered bridge for the first time. The course continues on quiet, rolling hills before arriving at the turnaround where you will head back.

Trapp Cabin Trail Race: 5K, 10K & Half Marathon
Sep 23 @ 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Beginning and ending in the Trapp Family Lodge Meadow, these races wind through 800 vertical feet of idyllic forest, bubbling streams and wildflowers. The races follow a dirt road briefly before merging with double track cross country trails. The 5K follows Lodge Spur to the Luce Hill Loop and follows the single track trail back to the finish. The 10K continues on to Tap Line, follows Chris’s Run to the cabin and returns via Growler and Tap Line to the finish.
