Break in the new year with brand new (or slightly used) ski and snowboard gear. Including all skis, boards, boots, poles & bindings for alpine, nordic and snowboard. Ice skates and snowshoes too! Swap drop-off will be January 5-9 between 10am & 7pm. No clothing or helmets will be accepted.

The Swap will be held at Skirack in Burlington on January 10, 2009 from 9am to 6pm.

Teaching Kids to Downhill Ski

Teaching downhill skiing to kids has become a passion for me, as seeing a child’s ear-to-ear smile out on the slopes is a delight. Instructing kids to ski requires a healthy mix of knowledge, enthusiasm, creativity, and patience. Chris Saylor, director of the children’s ski program at Okemo Mountain Resort, reminds parents that patience is key when teaching kids to ski.

On January 31st, Stratton Mountain Resort will host the Tubbs Romp to Stomp out Breast Cancer. Choose from a 3K or 5K benefit snowshoe walk or 3K fun run on Stratton's beautiful Sun Bowl cross country trails. 100% of the event proceeds and participant fundraising will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure!

Stratton Cold Wars

This winter Stratton will host a series of freestyle compeititions dubbed the "Cold Wars." Open to the public, these contests will be held under the lights in the Tyrolienne terrain park. All events are set to begin at 5 p.m. with registration beginning an hour earlier in the Main Base Lodge. Advanced online registration will be open on active.com.
